Success story summary
Business Challenge
NEC, foreseeing the importance of cloud computing and its business opportunities for NEC customers, wanted to cloud-enable SAP ERP data sources with leading cloud computing platforms such as Force.com and Sharepoint 2010. NEC already had started a project called the Enterprise Gateway, which was infrastructure focussed with restrictions on the business application level.
Solution
NEC and Vigience joined forces to create a proof of concept and a prototype to build upon the Enterprise Gateway and bring ERP business processes to the cloud. Based on this successful prototype, NEC and Vigience together started to productize the solution.
Benefits
The newly created product by the name of “Overcast” has been sucessfully launched on February the 1st, 2011. It internally is in productive use and at the same in “ramp-up” with several satisfied customers. NEC and Vigience are jointly marketing and implementing the product globally.
