SAP NetWeaver Integration, Porting and Certification
Vigience works with Dexterra, a leading provider of TelCo mobility solutions, to
devise an SAP integration and alignment strategy as well as secure a coveted SAP
certification for them. As a result, Dexterra now seamlessly integrates with SAP
via BAPIs or SAP XI (SAP PI) and calls the same APIs SAP's own Mobile Infrastructure
would call. It thus brings mobile business processes from SAP to smartphones such
as the BlackBerry or the Windows Mobile based devices without the need for add-on
development on the SAP server (be it SAP ERP or SAP CRM). The solution also includes
a SAP J2EE server port of Dexterra's flagship Concert Server together with Dexterra's
engineers and a UI user interface redevelopment in the SAP portalNetWeaver Portal.
The Challenge
- Dexterra is an up and coming mobile platform provider that looked to partner with
SAP to jointly write and sell mobile applications.
- Prerequisite for partnering with SAP is however the coveted "Powered By SAP NetWeaver"
certification which Dexterra didn't have.
- While Dexterra did have a basic certified SAP integration, it did not have working
real-life applications to prove and demo that, as well as issues in the SAP projects
it did run.
The Solution
- Dexterra called on Vigience to "fix" the SAP integration for sure and secure a "Powered
by SAP NetWeaver" from SAP.
- Vigience researched the SAP certification options for Dexterra and did a cost/benefit
analysis before recommending one of two options.
- Vigience rewrote - in the SAP NetWeaver Portal - portions of the Concert administration
console into a self-service administrative cockpit for business users.
- Vigience engineers worked with Dexterra developers to port the Concert server to
the SAP NetWeaver Application Server (SAP J2EE engine) where it can be monitored
and administrated like any other SAP software component. Deployment works like with
any other SAP component thanks to integration with SAP's software logistics and
life-cycle management.
The Result
- A successful Powered By SAP NetWeaver certification in 47 person days from Vigience.
- A very strong SAP platform and integration strategy that SAP's customers loved.
- A joint Vigience-Dexterra SAP go-to-market initiative with SAP customer visits as
well SAP marketing event participation on 3 continents.
- Applications that are pre-integrated to SAP by some of Dexterra's bigger partners.
