GTS Rollout in the Food Industry in 3 Countries
SAP GTS
Vigience works with SAP, the leading provider for enterprise business software,
to add key functionality to its Global Trade Service product and implement the solution
around the world.
SAP's Global Trade Service (SAP GTS) as a result now supports a general, and automated,
customs change management framework and is more flexible in the way it consumes
data from feeder systems.
The Challenge
- One of SAP's high-profile SAP ERP and GTS customers is legally mandated to handle
custom authority change declarations electronically via EDI messages
- Existing SAP GTS (7.2) standard solution does not support change declarations
- The SAP ERP feeder system has no knowledge of the customs declaration resulting
from an invoice
- High-volume business critical data environment meant that the system must be robust
and have recovery scenarios built-in
The Solution
- SAP AG corporate development called in Vigience to help craft a general purpose
change framework that would work with all customs authorities and feeder systems
- Vigience worked directly with the SAP customer to implement the framework and provide
relevant implementations for the newly exposed BAdIs
- Vigience coordinated with various customs authorities to perfect the relevant message
localization and construction
The Result
- A GTS change management framework that will become standard in GTS 8.0 (originally
built in 7.2)
- Data Differencing, Data Fusion, and Data Relevancy engines
- Message localization mapping and construction with data stripping
- Auditable business information change log that can be data mined
- A painless go-live for SAP's pilot customer with the new functionality ahead of
SAP's general release
