The New Zealand Government tracks & manages National Parks to keep them safe for
its visitors and ensure it meets its SLAs.
With a customer satisfaction score of 100/100, Vigience enables the New Zealand
Government to implement a world-wide unique property inspection and maintenance
process based on SAP software. In the process, Vigience improved the response times
of SAP's standard mobile application almost 10 fold.
The Challenge
- New Zealand's government needed a replacement for its highly developed bespoke asset
management solution that integrates mobile, GIS, documents, images, public web site
and their licensing systems
- During their solution evaluation and purchasing process, DOC came to select SAP
MAM for its superior integration to SAP. However, the performance of the mobile
application on the existing PDAs was simply put unacceptable for use in the field.
On top of that, there was no hardware key support nor was there any intuitive UI
flow
The Solution
- Vigience joined from the time of the sales workshops and agreed to develop a proof of concept
to demonstrate that the issues can indeed be addressed
- Vigience then also performed the entire mobile side of the implementation covering
the UI adjustments, the implementation of standard MAM as well as the add-on development
- The entire project was run based on the Scrum methodology with great success
The Result
- SAP won a deal they otherwise would have lost and then executed a mobile project
with great success
- The NZ government got an asset management solution that integrates mobile, GIS,
asset readers, etc. and is second to none
- A mobile solution with the following benefits over standard SAP MAM. In particular,
we
- reduced response times significantly (to sub 1 second!);
- facilitated keyboard-only navigation, and;
- remodeled the UI flow to match the customer's work practice.
