April 22, 2009 - NEC System Technologies, Ltd. and Vigience Co. Ltd. announced today that they agree to jointly develop and market the Enterprise Gateway service, a SaaS service that provides enterprise connectivity for applications built on Force.com - Salesforce.com's development platform. Via the Enterprise Gateway service, Force.com applications will be able to access mission-critical systems such as ERP via their native APIs.
Bringing together Vigience's Enterprise Gateway related technology development expertise with NEC System Technologies' fundamental SaaS service development know-how, the two companies will work jointly to launch this new Enterprise Gateway SaaS service.
This service will enable cost-effective, secure implementation of applications which aggregate real-time information between ERP systems and externally managed systems, which otherwise could not be easily integrated due to security concerns. For example, the creation of a stock availability management system to aggregate real-time stock information from ERP systems with information about externally managed stock at subcontracted factories or warehouses, can be efficiently achieved via the Enterprise Gateway SaaS service.
Fred Macaraeg, vice president of alliances at salesforce.com in Japan, said, "Enterprise integration is critical for the continued growth of the cloud computing industry. Built on salesforce.com's Force.com platform, Enterprise Gateway enables on-demand integration with ERP software such as SAP, as well as real-time access to enterprise data. This is a powerful incentive to many customers."
Enterprises are faced on the one hand with an increased need for IT cost reduction and on the other with the desire to use IT more strategically to help grow the business. In order to effectively support their customers' business needs, NEC System Technologies and Vigience will provide a highly value-adding service that fully leverages cloud computing.
This service takes away the need to spend weeks or months to select a middleware product, install it, securely connect the three systems and then integrate the applications. With the Enterprise Gateway, the project starts with the Salesforce.com application.
